Who we are ….

Whiskey and I go back several decades. I was born in the UK so it is no surprise that scotch was my initial whiskey of choice.

Upon moving to the USA, I became curious about Bourbon and Rye whiskies and started to really appreciate these very different styles of whiskey. I also started to research the fascinating history of whiskey and investigate their production and the skills involved in mashing, distillation and maturation. Multiple visits to distilleries and detailed discussions with those working in and running these businesses was invaluable.

When I retired from work back in 2020, I was looking for a part time ‘gig’ to keep me active. Living in Virginia and armed with a Professional Brewer’s Certification, I decided to branch out and launch ‘Richmond Whisky’. This was designed around fun and informative ‘we come to you’ whiskey events.

Now, in 2025, and after 60+ events and over 650 attendees, we have moved to Rhode Island and are relaunching the endeavor as ‘Ocean State Whiskey’.
